I solemnly commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp, Auschwitz today, on January 27, 2025. Last year, on December 20th, I had the poignant opportunity to visit Auschwitz in Poland. Although I had learned about the camp through various media, I could not fathom the extent of the horrors experienced there during World War II.
Walking through the narrow, dormitory-like barracks, I could almost feel the suffering endured by the victims. Stepping into the gas chamber left me speechless and stunned, overwhelmed by the thought of the countless lives mercilessly taken there. The scenes before my eyes filled me with deep sorrow. I stood still, offering my heartfelt compassion to the victims. May they rest in peace.
